TUSC Press Release – Forthcoming Elections

Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (TUSC) Press Release 16/2/13

TUSC announces it will stand candidates in County Council Elections

At its meeting last Monday Tusc supporters decided to stand a number of candidates for the county council elections to be held this year.

Steve Bell, a health worker, active trade unionist and prospective candidate stated ‘We are pleased to be able to stand more than one candidate this year, as it demonstrates that more people are willing to stand up against the three main political parties, who offer more of the same and sound very similar. We will certainly offer an alternative and challenge the notion that there is no alternative but to cut. We will be seeking endorsements from unions, individuals and organisations that are campaigning against the cuts. We know that so far we have only seen 20% of the cuts and that this April we will see significant cuts to the welfare budget. We would hope to work with people to oppose these cuts and all others that affect the 99%. We will be getting our message out that working people, the old, unemployed, students and disabled do not have to pay for the crisis of the banks. We hope people are able to join us and help out. I can be contacted on 07789915221 for more information or you can contact the national TUSC website or Socialist party website for further information.’
